The Packaging

No surprise here, back to the old minimalism box that HTC used to had.

It includes the phone, standard charger, earphones, manuals and warranty papers.

Overall Look
HTC Butterfly - Front

HTC Butterfly – Front

The front design looks simply gorgeous, with the pleasant reflections and the edge-less design on the glass that feels like a infinite-pool of a high-end villa. It contributes to the premium look that HTC looks after.

The 5-inch FULL HD “Super LCD 3” display feels like it’s just under your finger tips, all thanks in part to the optical bonding between the display glass and LCD itself. Colour reproduction is very accurate, the white is just whiter compare to the AMOLED devices. Contrast and saturation is just spot-on. No visible color shift even view at extreme angle. Outdoor viewing is also pretty good as well.

On top left, you’ll see the 2.1 MP, f/2.0, wide-angle front-facing camera, which is good for group shoot. And the 3 physical capacitive buttons at bottom(yes, more screen space then the Xperia counterpart).

HTC Butterfly - Back

The glossy finish at the backs gives the device a premium feel, the curvy back rest comfortably on hand.

Here you will see the 8MP shooter with LED flash on the right, and there’s an additional notification light on the left so you’ll be notified even when your phone is facing down.

Here you’ll see the speaker grill, and the BEATS AUDIO logo.

HTC Buttefly - Top

On the top, you would see a secondary mic for noise-cancellation, conventional 3.5mm audio jack, the power button at the middle and the Micro-Sim together with the microSD card slot with water enclosure.

At the bottom, you will see the micro-USB port with water enclosure and the mic.

HTC Buttefly - Left

Nothing on the left, and nope, that is not speaker grill but just a design element.

On the right, there’s the volume rocker.

Water-Resistant Video Test

The HTC Butterfly comes with an IPX-5 Water Resistance rating, which means:

Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.

YES, I’M INSANE enough to test my own Butterfly with A REAL WATER SPLASH TEST! So here’s the video to end my Hands-on Review. :)
